"Pingping" and "Fushuang" from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding will go to the United States to carry out ten-year conservation cooperation

The reporter learned from the National Forestry and Grassland Administration that giant pandas "Pingping" and "Fushuang" from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding will soon go to the Atlanta Zoo in the United States to start a new round of international cooperation in giant panda protection.

Giant panda "Ping Ping" is male and was born on March 17, 2020. He has large and thick black eye circles and is highly recognizable. It has a stocky body but flexible movements. It is especially good at climbing trees and often rests among the branches of trees.

Giant panda "Fu Shuang" is a female born on October 18, 2020. She has a small patch of fluffy hair on her head and a full and slightly convex forehead. It has a round shape, responsive response, and strong food-searching capabilities.

China and Atlanta Zoo have cooperated in giant panda conservation for 25 years. In 1999, giant pandas "Lun Lun" and "Yang Yang" came to Atlanta Zoo to start a cooperation that ended in 2024. During this period, a total of 5 litters and 7 cubs were bred alive, which was the best result of the international giant panda breeding cooperation between China and Europe and the United States. Currently, all nine giant pandas have returned to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

This time, giant pandas Pingping and Fushuang will go to the United States to start a ten-year giant panda conservation cooperation. The two parties will further deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of giant panda breeding and breeding, disease prevention and control, scientific research, public education, and protection of wild populations and habitats.
