How much will the TV license fee be in 2027?

The new RTV subscription rates will come into force on January 1, 2027. According to the decision of the National Broadcasting Council, the monthly fee for owning a TV set or a TV + radio set will increase to PLN 34.50. This amounts to as much as PLN 414 per year, i.e. PLN 48 more than before. If you only have a radio, the monthly fee will be PLN 10.80, which also means an increase - until now it was PLN 9.50.

It is worth remembering that if your household has both a TV and a radio, you do not have to pay two separate fees. In such a case, only the higher rate applies - PLN 34.50 per month. The fee should be paid by the 25th of each month.

Discounts are available for people who decide to pay for several months in advance. Even if you pay for two months, you can count on a small relief, and the longer the period you pay in advance, the greater the discount. The biggest discount concerns the annual payment - instead of PLN 414, the subscriber will pay PLN 372.60, which means a saving of over PLN 40.

Who is exempt from paying TV license fees?

Not everyone has to pay an RTV license fee. The legislator has provided for a number of exemptions for people in difficult life or health situations.

The following are exempt from fees:

people included in disability group I,

completely unable to work,

with a significant degree of disability,

unemployed,

receiving care benefits, social pensions or pre-retirement benefits.

deaf,

blind,

war and military invalids,

persons receiving cash benefits under the Social Assistance Act,

persons meeting specific income criteria provided for in the Family Benefits Act.

veterans,

repressed people,

disabled soldiers who were involuntarily employed and injured veterans.

In certain cases, the right to exemption also covers family members of eligible persons.

A special group are seniors over 60 years of age who have an established right to a pension, but only if its amount does not exceed half of the average salary in the national economy from the previous year. In 2026, this limit is PLN 4,451.78 gross per month. Age alone is not enough - it is necessary to meet the income criterion and present appropriate documents, such as an ID card and a decision from ZUS or another pension authority.

What exactly are we paying for?

The RTV license fee is a mandatory fee whose purpose is to finance the public mission of radio and television. Funds from the license fee are allocated to the maintenance and development of public radio and television stations, the production of information, educational, cultural and entertainment programs, as well as the implementation of tasks related to state security, such as broadcasting emergency messages.
