Influencer César Rincon organizes a convoy of trucks with donations for flood victims in Vale do Ribeira

Influencer, singer and businessman César Rincon organized a kind of 'truck train' with donations for Vale do Ribeira, a region in the interior of São Paulo affected by the floods of the Ribeira de Iguape River. The artist published a video of the trip he took with several vehicles loaded with supplies to the area (watch above).

The floods of the Ribeira River affected several municipalities in the region, leading to emergency decrees in Eldorado, Registro, Ribeira, Iporanga and Barra do Turvo. According to the State Civil Defense, 19 shelters for the homeless were set up in six municipalities.

Born in Cristalina (GO), Rincon recorded a video last Tuesday night (15) in which he expressed solidarity with the families affected by the Rio overflow, mainly in Eldorado (SP).

During the early hours of Wednesday (16), he shared the trip to Eldorado along with other vehicles. According to the influencer, the trucks will be used to load and distribute resources to residents of the city and the region.

"This is the smartest way for us to create a very large and very fast task force [...] Get a support point, make donations. I'll find a way for us to get this support point and I'll load the resource where they can't access it", he said.

On Wednesday morning, the influencer shared other records working in partnership with the region's Civil Defense in distributing the items collected.

"As much as it is a tragedy, today I'm going to do it, right? What I think is the most f*cking thing is that we provide hope for others, good things for others, without expecting anything in return", he commented.

Situation

In Ribeira, Iporanga and Eldorado, the water has already returned to the river channel and families have begun to clean their properties before returning to their homes. There are no more flooding points in these three municipalities, according to the State Government.

To date, there are no records of deaths or injuries resulting from events caused by rain in the region.

In Sete Barras, Registro and Pariquera-Açu, the Ribeira de Iguape River still has overflow points, with flooding mainly in rural areas. In Registro, there are also flooding points in the urban area.

The municipality, according to the city hall, has 70 homeless families, while Sete Barras has 25 families in this situation, according to the State Government. Civil Defense teams continue to monitor the evolution of river levels and work together with city halls.

The Government of São Paulo also made 16 boats and three helicopters available (two Águias and one for aeromedical support) to be used by rescue teams that need to access isolated neighborhoods.

Humanitarian aid

Civil Defense and the Social Fund of São Paulo participate in the humanitarian logistics operation to serve 17 municipalities, sending more than 7 thousand items distributed to the municipal administrations of cities in the region.

Among the materials sent to the cities are 1,381 cleaning kits, 1,100 hygiene kits, 664 dormitory kits, 983 basic food baskets and 1,756 units of water, in addition to tarps, mattresses, blankets, pillows, bedding sets, clothes and shoes.

The municipalities served are Avaré, Piedade, Sumaré, Monte Mor, Juquitiba, Ibiúna, Sete Barras, Eldorado, Itaquaquecetuba, Ribeira, Barra do Turvo, Registro, Iporanga, Guapiara, Itapecerica da Serra, Capivari and Rafard.
