Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi announced that he presented a 7-day plan to the USA for the Strait of Hormuz

Speaking to journalists at the United Nations (UN), Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi announced that they presented a 7-day plan to the USA to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. According to Arakçi, if the necessary conditions are met, normal maritime traffic in the Bosphorus can start within 7 days.

Arakchi, who blamed the USA for the violation of the memorandum of understanding between the parties and the aggression, said, "Iran presented a definitive 7-day plan to the USA through Qatar. If the necessary conditions are met, the Strait can be reopened and normal sea navigation can begin within 7 days. Now the decision is before the USA. Iran will not accept threats and coercion." he said.

Arakchi stated that if the USA takes the decision in question and fulfills the conditions that may take approximately 4-5 days, the Strait of Hormuz can be opened on the 6th day and negotiations can begin on the 7th day, and noted that the conditions in the plan presented to Washington are not new and that they are all included in the memorandum of understanding signed between the parties.

Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that the Bosphorus could be opened if the USA "shows the necessary seriousness".

Arakchi stated that more than 5 thousand people, including women and children, lost their lives in the attacks of the USA and Israel, and stated that the USA "used economic pressure as a weapon" against his country.

WSJ: TRUMP REJECTED THE ceasefire, BOMBARDING WILL BEGIN AFTER THE ELECTION

On the other hand, Wall Street Journal (WSJ) wrote that US President Donald Trump rejected Iran's 7-day ceasefire proposal.

According to the report, Trump told aides that he expected to start bombing Iran again after the November midterm elections.

Pezeshkiyan: TEHRAN SHARES THE OPINION THAT THE CONSULTANCY SHOULD BE RETURNED

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian also welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping's support for returning to the Islamabad Consensus. Pezeshkian said that he shares Tehran's view that the agreement should be returned and the previously undertaken commitments should be fulfilled.

The statements came after diplomatic contacts resumed during the UN General Assembly. The USA and Iran exchanged indirect messages through mediators on Tuesday, when the talks started. Speaking at the UN podium on the same day, US President Donald Trump said, "I have to make a big decision" regarding Iran and threatened Tehran if an agreement was not reached.

Among the options considered by the parties are Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US blockade of Iranian ports. No deal has been announced yet.
