Rain and storm warning issued for Istanbul and its surroundings

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) issued a warning for night and morning hours.

In the statement of AKOM, it was stated that the rains will be heavy in some places throughout the province after midnight, and the cold and rainy weather will continue locally at intervals until tomorrow evening (20.00).

During this period, it is predicted that there may be 40-100 kilograms/square meter of rainfall throughout the province, 60-120 kilograms/square meter in the northern districts, especially in Çatalca, Arnavutköy, Eyüpsultan, Sarıyer, Beykoz, Çekmeköy and Şile, and over 150 kilograms/square meter in some places.

LIGHTNING AND STORM WARNING

In these days, when humidity levels reach particularly high levels due to the effect of the north wind, which carries humid air to the region over the Black Sea, it is estimated that storms and heavy thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms may occur due to the coldness of the upper levels of the atmosphere and the relatively warmness of the sea and land surfaces.

Today, the General Directorate of Meteorology issued a yellow code heavy rain warning for Artvin, Bolu, Bursa, Istanbul, Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Rize, Sakarya, Sinop, Zonguldak, Bartın, Yalova, Karabük and Düzce.

It was requested to be careful against the negativities that may occur due to showers in these provinces.

In the statement, "Since the rains are expected to be locally strong in the north and east of Marmara, the Western Black Sea coasts and Balıkesir, the east of Çanakkale, Rize and Artvin surroundings and the coasts of Hatay, and are expected to be very heavy in places in Kocaeli, Sakarya province in general and the coastal parts of Düzce and Zonguldak, it is necessary to be careful and cautious against possible negativities." It was said.

The wind is expected to blow strongly (40-70 km/h) from the north in the Marmara and Aegean regions and from the south in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia.
