Liam Nebel is suspected of suffering from a serious mental disorder after the school attack in Fagersta

Liam Nebel is in custody for one murder and three attempted murders after the crime at Brinell School in Fagersta on 21 August. A 17-year-old girl was killed and three boys were injured when the 18-year-old, according to the suspects, attacked with a sword.

He was arrested at the school in connection with the attack.

A so-called section 7 investigation which has now been carried out by Nebel shows that he may be suspected of suffering from a serious mental disorder.

This type of minor examination is often requested by the court as a first step, if it is felt that a suspect's mental state should be examined.

It is mainly done to assess the need to proceed with a forensic psychiatric examination, a more comprehensive investigation that will show whether the person should be sentenced to forensic psychiatric care or to prison in the event of a conviction.
