The evacuation of the 73-year-old Abidinpaşa Primary School in Mamak made parents and teachers victimized.

Abidinpaşa Primary School, where approximately 300 students study in Ankara Mamak, was evacuated after the start of the academic year, citing "reinforcement and repair of the building". 16 teachers became surplus to norm. While some of the students were placed in another school, some remained idle. Education Sen Ankara Branch No. 1 made a statement together with the parents in front of the 73-year-old Mamak Abidinpaşa Primary School, which was evacuated. Stating that the grievances of students and teachers should be resolved as soon as possible, branch president Mehmet Aydoğdu said, "The school buildings in Mamak should be used in accordance with the public interest. Do not disperse the children while there are empty classrooms. Look for the problem not in the students but in the lack of planning."

'CHILDREN'S RIGHT TO EDUCATION CANNOT BE LEAVED AT THE MERCY OF BUREAUCRATS'

“Is the district and provincial directorate of national education and the ministry blind or deaf?” Asking the questions, Aydoğdu said, "Children's right to education at Abidinpaşa Primary School cannot be left to the mercy of bureaucrats. The fact that a building needs repair and strengthening does not require the removal of children from schools and the disintegration of the education system. It is possible to utilize the existing empty classrooms. Currently, Nazım Belger Primary School is 600 meters away from here. Go and place them there. It is that simple. There is no vacant place left in Ankara. Where will you send these teachers?" he said.

A PETITION WAS SUBMITTED TO THE PROVINCIAL NATIONAL EDUCATION

Parents who stated that their children's psychology was deteriorated said, "Our concern was that our children should not be separated from their teachers and classmates. How pedagogically correct is it for a student to change his school, friend and teacher at the same time? The school does not matter. We do not want our children to be separated from their friends and teachers."

Parents also submitted a petition to the Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education. In the petition, the parents requested that the empty classrooms at Nazım Berger Primary School and Ahmet Hızal Primary School be identified and used so that Abidinpaşa Primary School students and teachers can continue their educational activities together, that students and parents be given clear information about the future of the school, and that all necessary measures be taken to prevent the students' right to education and the bond they establish with their teachers from being harmed due to the process.
