Equivalent Exam Decision from ÖSYM for 392 Candidates in Şanlıurfa

According to the written statement of the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), the 2026-KPSS Undergraduate General Ability-General Culture session was held on September 6, with the participation of 1 million 708 thousand 329 candidates, in 4 thousand 724 exam buildings and 86 thousand 646 exam halls in 145 exam centers.

It was stated that access to the exam buildings became difficult due to the reduction of the connection road between Şanlıurfa city center and Harran University Osmanbey Campus to a single lane and the traffic accident in the region. It was reported that ÖSYM Şanlıurfa Provincial Coordination Office determined that many candidates would not be able to take the exam and conveyed the request to postpone the exam for 30 minutes in the relevant buildings to the ÖSYM Exam Day Desk.

ÖSYM stated that, as a result of the evaluation made within the scope of the legislative provisions and the decisions and practices taken in the past, it was decided to extend the entrance to the exam buildings on the Osmanbey Campus by 30 minutes and to apply the exam start time as 10.45, provided that the confidentiality and security of the exam is protected.

CAMERA RECORDINGS AND MINUTES WERE EXAMINED

In the statement, it was stated that an investigation was urgently launched in order to reveal the details of the situation. It was noted that within the scope of the investigation, the administrators and officials of the relevant examination center were interviewed, and all camera recordings in the examination buildings and halls, as well as building and hall minutes, were examined in detail after they were received by ÖSYM.

ÖSYM stated that the examination building entrance cameras and examination hall camera records were examined "one by one and in detail for each candidate".

EQUIVALENT EXAM DECISION FOR 392 CANDIDATES

As a result of the examination and evaluations, it was announced that examination practices contrary to the provisions of ÖSYM legislation were carried out for 392 candidates who took the exam in 22 of the 150 exam halls on the Osmanbey Campus.

In the statement of ÖSYM, it was stated that "The examination of each candidate is a great responsibility and trust for our Presidency. In order to protect this trust and not to disrupt justice and equality of opportunity, it was decided to hold an equivalent exam for the candidates determined in this context, with the decision of the ÖSYM Board of Directors dated 15 September 2026 and numbered 2026/38.10."
