Maricarmen appreciates the support from the hospital after her eviction while the political debate continues

"I am in the Gregorio Marañón hospital. I want to thank all the people who have been with me, accompanying me in this stage of my life to defend my house," expressed Maricarmen from the hospital, where she is admitted after her eviction.

Throughout yesterday, while Maricarmen was still admitted to the Gregorio Marañón hospital due to severe exhaustion resulting from anxiety and stress due to the eviction, the Madrid City Council, in permanent contact with the health facility, insisted that this place in one of the three resources available to the capital's council was still at her disposal. But that possibility is not in her plans: "She continues to reject the residence."

After the shock of the expected eviction, Maricarmen, 87 years old and with a 50% disability, spent her second day yesterday in one of the rooms of the Gregorio Marañón. The possibility of going to live with relatives is also still on the table, an issue that seemed the most viable last Wednesday. The fact is that there is still a lot of mystery surrounding his intentions and more and more political noise. Just yesterday there was a second demonstration against his eviction.

After the accusations against the Community and the City Council -Ayuso and Almeida- from New York by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, the Madrid council responded by listing the municipal resources that Maricarmen has at its disposal. Namely: telecare, home help with a total of 90 hours per week, occupational therapy, preventive physiotherapy and psychological care both with the Social Services of the district (Retiro) and from the Social Policy Area of ​​the Madrid council.

"Throughout this entire process we have been permanently aware of Maricarmen's situation. In the face of this, what others have done is basically almost nothing; like the General State Administration," argued yesterday the vice mayor and spokesperson for the Madrid City Council, Inma Sanz.

They are Samur-Civil Protection and Samur Social, dependent on the Madrid council, who are in "permanent contact" with the hospital in the event of any situation that may change. That is, if you decide to accept that place in one of the municipal residences: You are at your disposal to join as soon as possible.

But around this harsh reality there is also a political battle that continued to intensify yesterday. «The judicial resolution that is produced corresponds to a PSOE law, also called the Boyer Law. If they have done absolutely nothing, beyond promising one day 180,000 homes, another day 200,000 and another day 220,000," insisted Sanz herself, who was in charge of raising her voice from Cibeles.
