NATO reacts to Russia's action against the Danish helicopter

In her written statement, NATO Spokesperson Allison Hart stated that Denmark informed its allies about the incident yesterday in which a Russian frigate fired a flare at a military helicopter belonging to the country.

"This is another reckless action by Russia aimed at intimidating allies, but Russia is not succeeding. We continue to defend our territory and support Ukraine," Hart said. he said.

The Danish Ministry of Defense announced that two flares were fired from the Russian frigate while the helicopter belonging to the country's air force was carrying out a routine photo-taking mission in international waters off the coast of Gedser, at the southern tip of Falster Island.

It was reported that one of the cartridges passed very close to the helicopter and that the helicopter and its crew were not harmed.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen described the incident as "unacceptable" and summoned Russia's Copenhagen Ambassador Vladimir Barbin to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the other hand, the UAV that entered Lithuanian airspace was shot down by NATO warplanes. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the developments in Lithuania and Denmark were not isolated, but were part of Russia's broader policy of aggression and provocation towards Europe.
