Parade in the Bosphorus on the 488th anniversary of the Preveza Naval Victory

The 488th anniversary of the Preveza Naval Victory and Navy Day were celebrated with a ceremony held in Istanbul.

According to DHA, Northern Sea Area Commander Vice Admiral Ramazan Özoğul, Istanbul Deputy Governor Mehmet Sülün and Beşiktaş District Governor Oğuzhan Bingöl attended the ceremony.

The program started with a moment of silence and salutes after the National Anthem, and Northern Sea Area Commander Vice Admiral Ramazan Özoğul laid a wreath and signed the memorial book. Following the program, the tomb of Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha was visited. After signing the memorial book, Özoğul took a photo in front of the tomb with the accompanying delegation.

Following the program, a parade was held in the Bosphorus with 15 ships belonging to the Naval Forces Command.

Among the ships participating in the Bosphorus passage were TCG Istanbul, TCG Savarona, TCG Oruçreis, TCG Salihreis, TCG Heybeliada, TCG Büyükada, TCG Kalkan, TCG Mızrak, TCG Rüzgar, TCG Karayel, TCG Akçay, TCG Enez, TCG Işın, TCG 18 Mart and TCG Doğanay.

The ships passed the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge (FSM) and the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and proceeded towards Beşiktaş. Ships passing in front of Beşiktaş Pier greeted with the Çimariva salute. The passage of the ships in the Bosphorus was viewed from the air.
