Small aircraft crash leaves two dead in Poxoréu, Mato Grosso

According to the record, the flight was local and had a crew member and a passenger on board, identified as Zelicio Filgueira Tomaz, aged 58, being the pilot of the aircraft, and Rafael Pereira Guedes, aged 22. During the journey, while the aircraft was traveling around the aerodrome, it collided with the ground.

The occurrence was preliminarily classified by Cenipa as SCF-PP – engine failure or malfunction. The classification is initial and does not represent, at this moment, the definition of the cause of the accident.

According to the agency, the investigation does not aim to point out blame or liability, but to identify possible factors that contributed to the occurrence and propose measures to prevent similar accidents from happening again.

The accident occurred at Fazenda Água Funda, in the MT-130 region. According to the Civil Police, the aircraft was undergoing maintenance in Primavera do Leste and was on a test flight when it crashed in the Poxoréu region. There is still no information on how long the plane remained in the air before crashing.

Upon impact, the aircraft caught fire and the flames spread through the property's vegetation, causing a fire in the pasture area. A video recorded before the accident shows the small plane taking off. The circumstances of the accident are still being investigated.

This was the second aircraft crash in the state in less than 10 days. On September 10, another small plane crashed in a farm region, about 20 km from the urban area of ​​Água Boa, and left three people dead. So far, the following have been officially identified: Vanderlei Sattler, aged 65, and Luis Alberto Martinezz, aged 44, of Paraguayan nationality.
