Record price increases on the Costa de la Luz

The Traveldata Tourism Market Research Institute has prepared a report on the prices of organized holiday trips based on data from mid-September 2026. Among the results quoted by "Rzeczpospolita", the situation in Spain draws particular attention.

It is the Costa de la Luz, located in the south-west of the country, that has become the region with the highest price increases. The average price of a trip with a travel agency at the beginning of August 2027 increased by as much as PLN 141 in just the last week, and almost half of this increase was generated by increases on the Costa de la Luz.

The increase in average prices in this region amounted to as much as PLN 2,130. Such a high increase is the result of the introduction of new hotels to the offer, which automatically translated into the general price level - said "Rzeczpospolita".

Rising prices in other popular regions

Weekly price increases also affected other places known and liked by tourists. In Sicily, tour prices increased on average by PLN 1,095, and in Majorca by PLN 202. Among the five most frequently chosen holiday destinations, price increases were also recorded in Egypt and Greece, although here they were much smaller and amounted to PLN 27 and 26, respectively.

In turn, comparing prices for August of the 2027 season to the same period in 2026, the average increase was PLN 338. The largest increases concern trips to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt - by as much as PLN 727. You will also have to pay much more for holidays in Portugal (an increase of PLN 690) and in Aegean Turkey (an increase of PLN 648).

Factors driving price increases

Tourism market experts point to two key factors influencing increases in tour prices. The first is the sharp increase in aviation fuel prices. In mid-September 2026, a liter of this fuel cost PLN 5.22, while a year earlier it was PLN 2.77 - reported "Rzeczpospolita". This means an increase of 88.4%.

The second important factor is the weakening of the Polish zloty against the dollar and euro, which translates into higher costs of foreign settlements. In average tourist conversions, the zloty was 3.2% weaker. compared to the same period of the previous year.

The impact of the increase in aviation fuel prices and the weakening currency on the costs of trip organizers is becoming more and more noticeable. According to experts, the change in costs per trip participant amounted to PLN 440 to PLN 450 more than a week ago. For comparison, a week earlier it was PLN 370-380, and two weeks earlier it was PLN 290-300.

As a result, a significantly larger budget will have to be allocated for holidays in 2027 than a year or two ago.
