Fraudulent mini-applications that imitate the Yandex Tasks platform have appeared in the Telegram messenger.

Scammers defraud users of money and personal data under the pretext of making quick money.

The deception scheme is based on social engineering: quick gain serves as bait.

MOSCOW, September 25 - RIA Novosti. Fraudsters create mini-applications in Telegram that imitate the Yandex Tasks platform and, under the pretext of making quick money, lure money and data out of them, the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported.

“Fraudulent mini-applications have appeared in the Telegram messenger that imitate the Yandex Tasks platform. On behalf of the popular service, attackers offer quick earnings for completing certain tasks,” the department’s official channel on the Max platform says.

The scammers promise to pay 150 rubles for filling out a form, sending a message to the manager and launching such an application, and 300 rubles for subscribing to the channel. And after completing all the tasks, a “draw with a prize” becomes available.

To withdraw your earnings, the mini-application requires you to enter a phone number or bank card details, but then the scammers, under the pretext of suspending the payment, send you to the “support service” or to the personal Telegram account of the “manager”, where they demand to pay a fake fee for paying the reward, the department said.
