Master actor Tarık Ünlüoğlu is commemorated on the anniversary of his death

The artist, whose full name is Reşat Tarık Ünlüoğlu, was born on November 16, 1957 in Izmir. After graduating from Izmir Namık Kemal High School, Ünlüoğlu entered Ankara State Conservatory, studied opera for a year and then transferred to the theater department.

Ünlüoğlu was appointed to the Istanbul State Theater after working at the Ankara State Theater for more than 20 years. In addition to his theater work, the artist took part in cinema and television productions and also did voice-over work.

He reached large audiences with the characters "Saw Necmi" and "Unal Bey"

Tarık Ünlüoğlu was remembered by television viewers especially with the characters of "Saw Necmi" in the TV series "Kurtlar Vadisi" and "Ünal Bey" in "Eşkıya Dünyaya Ruler Olmaz".

The artist took part in TV series such as "My Mother is an Angel", "Europe Avrupa", "Bir Yusuf Masalı" and "Ah Neriman", as well as movies such as "Eyyvah Eyvah 2", "Eyyvah Eyvah 3", "Berlin Tiger", "Sümela's Password: Temel", "Bal Kaymak", "Kabadayı" and "Cumhuriyet".

Ünlüoğlu, who also does voice-over work with his unique characteristic voice, appeared in front of the camera with Oya Başar, Dolunay Soysert and Ali Sunal, especially in the TV series "My Annem Bir Melek", which was published in 2008-2010. He shared the leading roles with Ata Demirer and Demet Akbağ in the 2014 movie "Eyyvah Eyvah 3".

More than 40 years of effort on the theater stage

Throughout his 40-year theater career, Ünlüoğlu took part in plays such as "The Miser", "İstanbul Efendisi", "My Fair Lady", "The Sacrifice", "Yunus Emre", "Galile's Life", "Illustrated Ottoman History", "Seagull", "The Visitor", "Taf Tutmak" and "Warning".

In a television program he attended, the artist stated that one of the foundations of acting is observation and explained the following:

"We received acting training at the conservatory. One day, our late great teacher Mahir Canova said to us in class, 'Come on, walk to the station today and look at the people there from morning to evening. See who these people you have never met are and write down their life stories.' he said. This was a really important training. You need to think about who is playing the role you are facing. Who are his parents, does he have any siblings? "All of this is about observation, and observation has a meaning that nourishes the actor."

Stating that a good actor should think about the past, family and life of the character he plays, Ünlüoğlu stated that observation is an important element that nourishes the actor.

"A comedian is someone who plays both drama and comedy."

In another program he attended in 2011, the artist explained his approach to acting: "A comedian is someone who plays both drama and comedy." He evaluated it with his words.

Stating that he received acting training and loved playing different types of roles, Ünlüoğlu said that training actors as well as theater education gave him great happiness.

Ünlüoğlu, who has been married twice in his private life, has a daughter named Zeynep from his first marriage.

Tarık Ünlüoğlu, who was treated for lung cancer, died in Istanbul on October 1, 2019, at the age of 62. A ceremony was held for Ünlüoğlu at the Istanbul State Theater Mecidiyeköy Grand Stage. After the funeral prayer performed in Levent Mosque, the artist was buried in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
