The EU Council introduced sanctions against the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov

The Council of the European Union (EU) imposed sanctions against the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. This became known from an official statement published on the department’s website.

“Today’s sanctions list includes the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, for facilitating the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to camps located in his region,” the publication follows.

The EU Council imposed travel bans and asset freezes on 10 individuals and 17 organizations. The sanctions list included the Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Donetsk People's Republic, as well as the heads of children's camps and schools for allegedly “participating in ideological indoctrination.”
