A monument to the participants of the Northern Military District in the form of a tree with the names of the victims was unveiled in Severo-Kurilsk

The grand opening of a monument dedicated to the participants of the special military operation took place in the city park of Severo-Kurilsk.

The monument is made in the form of a tree, on the branches of which the names of the fallen soldiers from the North Kuril region will be immortalized.

The head of the municipal district, Alexander Ovsyannikov, expressed the hope that the names of only 19 dead fellow countrymen will be immortalized on the tree and that this number will not increase further.

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, September 22 – RIA Novosti. The grand opening of the monument dedicated to the participants of the special military operation took place in the city park of Severo-Kurilsk, reports the press service of the municipal administration.

According to her information, the monument is made in the form of a tree, on the branches of which the names of soldiers from the North Kuril region who died in the fields of the special operation will be immortalized.

The head of the municipal district, Alexander Ovsyannikov, noted that the sketch of the monument was chosen after discussing several options and taking into account the opinion of the public council.

“This is a tree, this is a community, these are families. Leaves will appear on its branches with the names of the guys who died. Today there are 19 of them – 19 of our fellow countrymen. I really hope that these will be the last leaves on this tree,” the press service quotes the mayor as saying.
