In Russia, over the past five years, the number of cemeteries open for burials has decreased by 9,548 units - from 83,381 to 73,833. The Baza publication reported on the Telegram channel about increasing cases of illegal “grave inflation.”

As the publication found out, some closed organizations provide illegal funeral services. According to Baza, we are talking about new burials in other people's graves with an unexpired sanitary period, and not about subburials in relatives.

The main difficulty is that there is no single electronic register of burials in a number of regions of Russia, where all the data about the deceased would be indicated: his identity, place, number of the plot or grave and who is responsible for it among the relatives. Such information is often contained on paper. It becomes almost impossible to prove that a specific plot was allocated for a specific person.
