On the third day of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the northbound traffic flow on the national highway reaches a peak. The High Commissioner predicts 13 road sections prone to traffic jams.

Traffic flow on the "northbound" National Highway will reach its peak tomorrow! The Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Transport estimates that tomorrow is the third consecutive day of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, and the northbound traffic volume on national highways can reach 1.3 times the average annual average. There are 13 road sections prone to traffic jams, and measures such as ramp closures and high-occupancy control have been implemented.

The Gaogong Bureau predicts that the key congested road sections tomorrow will be the national 1 northbound Xiluo-Changhua, Nantun-Houli, Miaoli-Hukou, Yuanshan-Dahua system; the national 3 northbound Zhushan-Zhongxing, Caotun-Wufeng, Dashan- Xiangshan, Qielang-Baoshan, Guanxi-Daxi; National 5 north to Yilan-Pinglin; National 4 west to Tanzi system-Fengshi; National 6 west to east Caotun-Wufeng system; National 10 west to Renwu-Zuoyingduan and other sections.

The Gaogong Bureau recommends that northbound users of the Western National Highway should depart before 9 a.m. in the southern region and before 12 noon in the central region. Northbound users of the National Highway No. 5 are advised to depart before 9 a.m. to save valuable time.

The Gaogong Public Security Bureau explained that tomorrow’s national highway-related diversion measures include closing the northbound entrances of National 1 Huwei and Puyan systems and National 3 West Coast from 12 to 21 p.m.; high-occupancy control at the northbound entrances of National 5 Suao, Luodong, Yilan and Toucheng from 13 to 18 o’clock; single rate, National 3 Hsinchu system to Yanchao system adopting a single rate and then 20% off tolls, suspending tolls from 0 to 5 hours, open shoulders, alternative roads, ramp instrument control, etc.

At 12:36 this afternoon, a collision involving six passenger cars occurred at 312 kilometers southbound on National Highway 1, causing all lanes of the Anding-Tainan system to be closed. Traffic was diverted from Anding, and was cleared at 13:14. The traffic flow was blocked for 4 kilometers; at 14:35, a collision occurred at 60.4 kilometers northbound on the National Highway 3 (in the Puding No. 2 Tunnel). Three passenger cars occupied the inside lane. The traffic was cleared at 15:00, causing the rear traffic flow to be blocked for 3 kilometers.

In addition, at 16:14, a collision occurred between a large truck and two passenger cars in the Zhonghe Tunnel, 34.3 kilometers south of the National Highway 3, occupying the outer lane. It was cleared at 17:08, causing the rear traffic to be blocked for 6 kilometers. These accidents seriously affected the smooth flow of traffic.
