A lanky youth approaches the muscular middle-aged man from behind. When he is about ten meters from his victim, he raises a weapon and fires several shots, according to witnesses. The great man falls and does not rise again. The young man then moves from the scene, jumps on an electric scooter and disappears. The flight goes strangely calmly.
- He was in no hurry. He rode a scooter with the help of his foot. He didn't put the scooter on. He was completely calm, says a witness later.
The shooting took place shortly after 7 pm on September 20 last year on a thoroughfare in Hagsätra in southern Stockholm. Several witnesses have seen how a thin, young man in gray sweatshirts appears to have carried out what looks like an open street execution. The shots echoed between the eight-storey buildings and several people at the scene captured parts of the incident on film with their mobile phones. Some people who happen to be nearby hide behind a car when they realize the seriousness of the incident.
The middle-aged man turns out to be a 45-year-old with connections to the Bandidos motorcycle club. He is flown to the hospital by helicopter, but later in the evening the news comes that his life has not been saved.
An extensive investigation is launched and the police have access to a large amount of footage of the suspected murderer. On October 7, a then 19-year-old young man who fits the description of the suspected murderer is arrested - and on October 10 he is detained. In the initial interrogation, he denies guilt. A couple of weeks later, he suddenly admits that he was the one who carried out the shooting.
The 19-year-old states that he initially thought his mission was something else.
- They didn't tell me that I'm going to go and shoot someone. They said nothing. They said, you should go there and get stuff, he says in questioning.
In the subsequent interrogations, the picture becomes clearer. According to the investigation, the principals have attracted money to persuade the 19-year-old to carry out the murder. He also states that at first there was talk of half a million in compensation for the shooting - but that it turned out to be much less than that.
- No, all this that I got is nothing. 150,000 for one like that, it's nothing, he says.
The 19-year-old also states that he was threatened at the same time so that he would not back out of his mission.
- I don't want a grenade at home, he says in questioning.
At the beginning of September this year, charges were brought against the young suspected murderer, who is now 20 years old. According to the lawsuit, the man is charged with murder for intentionally killing the 45-year-old by shooting him with several shots. The prosecutor also refers to the fact that the shooting took place in a gang context and in a public place as particularly aggravating circumstances.
Lawyer Jerker Öhrfeldt is the 20-year-old's defender and writes in an email to DN that his client has admitted the crime. "On the other hand, we do not share the prosecutor's assessment of all the circumstances surrounding the act", he writes further.
Another 20-year-old is charged at the same time with aiding and abetting murder by having recruited the suspected shooter and, among other things, putting him in contact with the people behind the murder. A 15-year-old boy at the time of the murder is charged in the same case with aiding and abetting murder for acting as a spy before the murder - and four other young people are charged with various forms of involvement in the murder.
The trial began last week.
