Kaohsiung encourages parents to bring their children for free development screening and gives away limited gift cards

In order to encourage parents to pay attention to children's growth and development screening, the Gao City Health Bureau announced today (29th) that from now on, parents or primary caregivers who bring children under the age of 7 to 160 contracted medical institutions in the city for free development screening will receive a limited 100 yuan gift card.

According to statistics from the Health Bureau, the city served 33,779 children in 2014, with a screening utilization rate of 34.73%. After screening, 1,938 children had to be referred to assist in further professional treatment.

The Health Bureau emphasizes that 0 to 6 years old is a critical period for children's development. Regular screening can help to understand the development status early. If necessary, early intervention in professional treatment will help children learn and live in the future and protect every key growth milestone of children.

Child development screening is performed by pediatricians, family medicine specialists or early childhood specialists who have received training in standardized screening tools. It evaluates the four major aspects of children's gross motor, fine motor, language cognition and social development. Through professional screening, it not only confirms whether the child has any problems, but more importantly, allows parents to understand their child's current development status and receive appropriate assistance as early as possible when needed.

This year (115), Gao City will strengthen the connected medical system and encourage family participation, hoping to effectively increase screening coverage and establish a more complete child development support network so that every child can grow up healthily and not miss the golden period of development.

The Health Bureau stated that this free children's developmental screening plus 100 yuan gift card event is limited and available while supplies last. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of the free resources and take their children for screening regularly.
