The National Library’s “Children’s Reading in Four Seasons” 2026 Autumn Volume is released and the “Bookish Campus Tour” project is launched

China News Service, Xi'an, September 24 (Reporter Alina) The National Library's "Children's Reading in Four Seasons" 2026 Autumn Volume Press Conference and the launching ceremony of the "Bookish Campus Tour" project were held at the Shaanxi Provincial Library on the 23rd.

According to reports, the "Children's Reading in Four Seasons" project was initiated by the National Library, and the Children's Library of the National Library jointly organized and implemented it with many public libraries and primary and secondary schools in Beijing, Shaanxi, Tianjin, Shanghai, Qinghai, Guangxi, Hunan and other places. The National Library is responsible for the overall planning, local libraries play the role of regional organizations and service hubs, and each partner school serves as the main body of the activities and is responsible for the implementation of specific activities. Through the collaboration of the three parties, the professional reading resources and services of the public library are further extended to the campus.

Rong Jie, Director of the Children's Library of the National Library, and Li Luhu, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Library, jointly announced the recommended book list for the autumn volume of "Four Seasons Children's Reading". The Children's Library of the National Library presented books for the "Four Seasons Children's Reading" autumn volume reading activity to representatives of grassroots units.

Zhang Jun, deputy director of the National Library of China, said that providing high-quality reading resources for children is an important focus for the National Library to fulfill its social education functions and promote reading for all. Since its launch in 2023, "Four Seasons Children's Reading" has continued to serve the growth of children through the selection of high-quality children's books and reading promotion. The "Bookish Campus Tour" project was launched at the same time as the 2026 autumn volume was released, aiming to further deepen library-school collaboration, promote high-quality reading resources to enter campuses more systematically and regularly, and enrich children's reading experience.

Tan Jiafeng, the second-level inspector of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said that the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism will take this event as an important opportunity to continue to consolidate various work in promoting children’s reading. Promote libraries at all levels in the province to benchmark against the advanced experience of the National Library, continue to improve the professional level of children's reading services, let more children and children share universal and high-quality reading results, and inject the power of books into the construction of Shaanxi's culturally powerful province.

From selecting high-quality reading materials to promoting good books to children, it is a further extension of reading promotion services. To this end, the National Library has specially planned the special campaign of "Children's Reading in Four Seasons, Bookish Campus Tour" based on the recommended books of "Children's Reading in Four Seasons". It uses the recommended books in "Children's Reading in Four Seasons" as the core reading resources and carries out a series of reading promotion activities through a combination of online and offline methods to promote the better integration of high-quality reading resources into the campus.

As the organizer of this event, the Shaanxi Provincial Library, in collaboration with local public libraries and schools, combined with Shaanxi's rich historical and cultural resources, launched a series of reading activities "Children's Reading in Four Seasons·Reading and Traveling in Three Qins". Through themed activities such as "Reading Chang'an·Tracing Poems and Paintings", "Three Qin Scenes·Intangible Heritage Children's Biography", and "Collection of Creative Book Covers for Children's Reading in Four Seasons", reading will be deeply integrated with regional culture and campus education, guiding children to perceive regional culture and expand their knowledge horizons during reading, and further enrich the campus reading experience.
