Extending the Emirati-Egyptian partnership in government modernization until 2031

The strategic partnership in government modernization between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt has been extended until 2031, with the aim of expanding the areas of exchanging government expertise and experiences, developing performance and services, building government capabilities and leadership, and enhancing the readiness of government work for the future.

According to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, the agreement establishes a new phase of cooperation between the governments of the two countries, in continuation of the partnership that was launched in February 2018, and achieved qualitative results in the areas of government services, government excellence, capacity building, government accelerators, and government competitiveness.

The UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Al Gergawi, stressed that the relations between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt represent a solid model of brotherhood, cooperation and partnership, and are sponsored by the leadership of the two countries, noting that the partnership in government modernization translates the depth of these relations into practical initiatives and projects that serve the development process and reflect positively on people’s lives.

He said: Government partnerships accelerate development and make an impact on people’s lives, and the UAE’s partnership with Egypt is a promising model for cooperation, exchange of experiences, and readiness for the future.

For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Mohamed Tawfiq Rostom, stressed the importance of the economic and development relations extending between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and the joint keenness to enhance cooperation in developing government work, consolidating the principles of governance, empowering human cadres, and building institutional capabilities, which reflects the quality of services and contributes to achieving sustainable development goals.

He pointed out that extending the partnership until 2031 enhances the process of cooperation and building on the achieved results, explaining that the “Egypt Award for Government Excellence” contributed to consolidating a culture of excellence and creating a positive competitive environment that encourages government agencies and their employees to adopt best practices and continuous improvement in performance.

The strategic partnership in the areas of government modernization between the two countries was launched in February 2018, and included five main axes: government services, government excellence, capacity building, government accelerators, and government competitiveness.

Over the course of eight years, the partnership achieved a set of joint results and initiatives, including the launch of 17 fixed and mobile government service centers in Egypt, inspired by the experience of government service centers in the UAE. The partnership also witnessed the launch of the “Egypt Award for Government Excellence” inspired by the UAE government excellence system, which received, during five cycles, more than 10,000 nominations, and more than 600 evaluators from the two countries participated in its evaluation processes, while the partnership contributed to building the capabilities of more than 16,000 people. A leader and government employee, organizing more than 1,500 specialized workshops in the areas of developing institutional performance, government services, excellence, innovation, and accelerating government achievement.
