A male coach of Tainan Junior High School secretly filmed a female student going to the toilet. The smell of perfume on her body is the key to solving the case.

A male coach surnamed Zhao who works part-time at a junior high school in Tainan City is accused of using his mobile phone to secretly record sexual images of female students in the restroom next door in the women's restroom of the school's gymnasium on the afternoon of December 4, 2025. The female student screamed when she discovered that she was being secretly filmed, and Zhao ran away. Although Zhao Nan denied secretly filming, the female students smelled the same perfume bottle that Zhao Nan used and the police seized the perfume bottle used by Zhao Nan. The prosecutors found him guilty of the crime and charged him with attempted secret filming of sexual images of children.

An investigation by the Tainan District Prosecutor's Office revealed that Zhao was previously a part-time coach at a junior high school in Annan District, Tainan City. He was involved in entering the women's squat toilet in the school's gymnasium at about 2 p.m. on December 4, 2025.

Zhao Nan was in the women's restroom of the squat toilet and used a female student to defecate in the sitting toilet next door. He stretched his iPhone 16 smartphone from above the partition of the squat toilet to the sitting toilet next door in order to record the female student's private parts and sexual images while using the toilet.

The female student alertly heard a noise in the bathroom next door and the smell of perfume emanating from Mr. Zhao's body. At the same time, she saw a mobile phone sticking out of the toilet. After she exclaimed, Mr. Zhao fled immediately. The frightened female students immediately reported the matter to their class teacher, and the school called the police to find out the affair.

During the interrogation, Mr. Zhao admitted that he had entered the women's restroom in the school gymnasium, but argued that he went to the women's restroom to use the sit-down toilet because he could not squat with his left foot. He waited in the squat toilet stall for the person sitting in the sit-up toilet next door to finish using it. He denied that he had committed any crime of secretly filming.

Although no secretly filmed sexual images were found in Mr. Zhao’s cellphone, the prosecutors found that Mr. Zhao was involved in the attempted filming of sexual images of juveniles in violation of the Child and Juvenile Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act based on the female student’s statement that he smelled the same scent as the two confiscated bottles of perfume on Mr. Zhao’s body.
