A former national water polo player who committed sexual harassment in a public place while drunk was sentenced to a fine.

On the 27th, Chief Judge Kim Joo-hyeon of the Criminal Division 2 of the Chungju Branch of the Cheongju District Court announced that he had sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted on charges of violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, etc. (indecent assault in a crowded public place), to a fine of 5 million won.

Mr. A, a former national water polo player, is accused of molesting a passenger on the subway while drunk in October last year by holding part of his body close to him and exposing major body parts to the victim.

Mr. A, who has a similar criminal record, admitted to the crime during the trial that he was drunk at the time.

Chief Judge Kim ruled, "Even though he was previously punished with a fine for public indecency, he committed the crime again, so the crime is not good. However, we took into account the fact that he had reached an agreement with the victim and the fact that he had no history of other crimes."
