The head of the German Foreign Ministry offered to help Ukraine return conscripts from Germany

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefuhl said that Berlin could help Kyiv with the return of Ukrainians of military age, since it has information about their places of residence and registration in Germany.

Wadeful stressed that returns should be free of coercion.

MOSCOW, September 9 - RIA Novosti. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefuhl said that Berlin could help Kyiv with the return of Ukrainians of military age, since it has information about their places of residence and registration in Germany.

“We know where they (men of military age - ed.) live here (in Germany - ed.). Who, for example, receives social benefits or who is registered here, who has a residence status... (Based on this data, they - ed.) can be notified by the Ukrainian government that they are subject to conscription. I believe that this topic can and should be raised," Wadeful said in an interview with the Bild newspaper.

As the publication notes, Wadeful supported the position that Ukrainian men of military age should be returned to their homeland. However, the minister emphasized that the return should occur “without coercion.”

Earlier, RIA Novosti reported, citing the latest data from the European statistical agency Eurostat, that about 1.1 million men from Ukraine aged 18 to 64 years, potentially subject to military service, are under temporary protection in the European Union, with Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic accepting the most Ukrainian refugees.

The temporary protection mechanism for citizens who left Ukraine is valid from March 2022 until March 4, 2028. It provides the right to residence, work, health and social assistance, and children's access to education without going through the normal asylum procedure.
