Former deputy director of Roscosmos Oleg Frolov was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

Former deputy director of Roscosmos Oleg Frolov, who is in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center in connection with charges of fraud in the creation of a pressure complex for testing, was diagnosed with fourth-degree cancer. Kommersant writes about this.

Now the defendant’s lawyers are demanding that the investigator leading the case from the Investigative Committee of Russia be brought to criminal responsibility. According to the defense, the department employee does not release Frolov from the pre-trial detention center, despite the conclusion of the medical commission and the court decision, which falls under the article on unlawful deprivation of liberty.

According to the publication, serious health problems in 64-year-old Frolov were discovered in July. On August 13, doctors at the Kommunarka Clinical Center diagnosed him with stage 4 cancer - a fatal disease destroys the bones of the ex-deputy director of Roscosmos, which leads to severe pain. The diagnosis is included in the list of diseases that prevent detention, in connection with which the lawyers petitioned to release the client, attaching a medical report. However, the investigator refused, stating that he had not received the necessary medical documents from the pre-trial detention center.

According to Kommersant, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow found on August 27 that the investigator had read the conclusion of the Kommunarka doctors, recognizing the inaction as illegal and obliging them to eliminate the violations. Despite this, Frolov remains in jail. At the same time, the medical unit of the isolation ward stated that “carrying out specific antitumor therapy is not possible.”

The publication also emphasized that due to his state of health, Frolov is the only person involved in the case who has not familiarized himself with the investigation materials.
