Statement on Space and Moon Wars from US Commander Caine

Chief of Staff General Dan Caine, the top commander of the US army, made remarkable statements, pointing out that the conflict area in future wars may extend far beyond the Earth.

Caine said that the US army should be ready for conflict in a much wider geography in the future and added: "Today's modern battlefield extends from the sea floor to the space around the Moon." he said.

THE BATTLEFIELD INCLUDES THE MOON

The space Caine is talking about includes the vast region between the Earth and the Moon, as well as the Moon's orbit and surface. US military officials have been drawing increasing attention to the strategic importance of this region in recent years.

One of the important reasons for this is that activities around the Moon are expected to increase rapidly in the coming years.

The USA and China plan to establish permanent bases, especially near the south pole of the Moon, which is thought to contain water ice reserves.

The Washington administration argues that gaining an advantage in the race to the Moon is not only scientific but also strategically important.

CHINA BROUGHT HISTORICAL FIRSTS ON THE MOON

China, one of the USA's most important rivals, has made significant progress in its Moon program in recent years.

In 2019, China's Chang'e 4 mission became the first spacecraft to make a soft landing on the far side of the Moon, which is not visible from Earth.

The Chang'e 6 mission broke another first by bringing samples taken from the far side of the Moon to Earth in 2024.

“WE MUST ADAPTE NOW”

Caine stated that there is no guarantee that the army will have uninterrupted access and supply opportunities in future conflicts.

Emphasizing that the US military should prepare for these new conditions now, Caine said, "Our duty is to adapt now. Thus, the joint force can be ready to fight, resist and win in global and contested environments, from the seabed to the space around the Moon." he said.

According to Caine, preserving the space advantage that the USA has enjoyed for many years will be one of the fundamental elements of future military operations.

“WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HIT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD”

Caine said that the USA should maintain its capacity to direct military force to any point in the world at any time, and stated that the Space Force has a special duty at this point.

“We must continue to ensure that the United States can strike any part of the world whenever and wherever we choose and maintain that power.” he said.

The U.S. Space Force must provide “unrivaled space superiority” and maintain the communications networks, space awareness and data advantage the military needs, Caine said.

USA ANNOUNCED THAT IT HAD WEAPONS IN ORBIT

Caine's statement came a day after a senior official publicly confirmed that the US Space Force operates weapons systems in Earth orbit.

In his speech at the same conference, US Space Force Commander General Douglas Schiess said that Space Force personnel use weapon systems in orbit.

“Let me be clear: Our personnel today operate orbital weapons that can defend partner forces against space-supported attacks,” Schiess said. he said.

Schiess' statements, which did not give details about the features of the systems, indicated that these may be technologies aimed at neutralizing critical systems on the other party's spacecraft using electromagnetic methods rather than physically destroying satellites.
