(Busan = Yonhap News) ▲ Citizens' Sports Festival at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium on the 12th to 13th = Busan City will hold the 37th Busan Citizens' Sports Festival for two days starting on the 12th at Busan Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, with over 20,000 citizens and sports enthusiasts participating.

This competition is Busan's largest city-wide sports festival.

A variety of programs will be held for citizens and recreational sports enthusiasts to enjoy together, including an opening ceremony, an eve party, competitions for 15 sports categories, and a citizen participation forum.

▲ Legionellosis prevention management and environmental inspection = Busan City announced on the 9th that it will strengthen environmental water management and environmental inspection of multi-use facilities to prevent legionellosis.

Legionellosis is a class 3 statutory infectious disease caused by Legionella bacteria. You can become infected by inhaling fine water droplets from bacteria-contaminated cooling tower water, building water supply/hot water facilities, showers, faucets, hot tubs, etc.

The city said that as a result of testing 119 environmental samples from cooling tower water, water supply, and hot water facilities at 23 lodging facilities and two event venues in April and May, all were confirmed as non-detectable.

The city is holding quarterly relay meetings using the local network and market entry know-how possessed by the Overseas Trade Office.

▲ Busan AI English Retelling Contest = Busan City announced on the 9th that it will hold the '2026 Busan AI English Retelling Contest', which combines artificial intelligence (AI) and retelling.

For this competition, 10 people selected through a practice period and two preliminary rounds for 3rd to 6th grade elementary school students (including out-of-school youth) in the Busan area will compete in the finals at the Busan Global Village auditorium on November 7.

Certificates and plaques will be awarded to all 10 finalists based on a total of 6 items including presentation composition, content, and fluency.

During the final screening, Professor Woo Gil-ju of Busan National University of Education will give a lecture on English education methods under the theme of ‘Retelling, awakening English literacy.’
