Alibaba will establish cloud regions in new countries including Türkiye

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba executive Li Feifei announced that he will establish the first cloud regions in Türkiye, Finland and the Netherlands within the next 12 months.

The company also said it will expand its data center network in Malaysia, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, France and Hong Kong. It was stated that this move will increase the ability to provide localized cloud and artificial intelligence services.

Alibaba's growth push means it is increasingly entering into direct competition with Western rivals such as Amazon and Alphabet in regions outside Asia, Bloomberg reported.

“We are committed to working closely with our global ecosystem to make AI more scalable, practical and accessible for businesses,” said Li, chief technology officer and head of international affairs at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

Alibaba is among the Chinese companies investing most aggressively in digital infrastructure, which it sees as the basis for achieving artificial intelligence. The company announced a three-year AI investment plan of $53 billion in 2025 and stated that capital expenditures will continue to increase since then.

Alibaba's global cloud network stretches from Japan to Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The company aims to provide productive artificial intelligence services to local businesses with new facilities opened in Brazil and France in recent months.
