Peanut disaster victims in Baozhong, Mailiao and Sihu in Yunlin County did not receive relief funds. Members questioned the operational errors.

During the harvest period in June this year, peanuts from the first crop of Yunlin County sprouted and rotted due to continuous rainfall. After a disaster survey, the Ministry of Agriculture announced cash assistance for peanut natural disasters, with an assistance of 36,000 yuan per hectare. However, it was recently reported that farmers in Baozhong, Mailiao, and Sihu Townships among the 20 towns and cities in the county have not received the assistance yet. Councilor Cai Mingshui asked the county government to investigate whether there was any human error that affected farmers' rights.

He emphasized that the Yunlin peanut planting area was huge, and it was also damaged by continuous rainfall. The disaster was comprehensive. Since the central government has announced relief, it is recommended that the central government be considerate of the farmers' hard work.

Cai Mingshui said that among the 20 towns, towns and cities that also applied for disaster relief, only these three failed because they did not take photos, and asked the county government to investigate whether the office had been negligent in its work. The County Government's Government Style Office said it would ask offices to self-examine their operating procedures first, and the Government Style Office would also assist in handling the matter.

County Magistrate Zhang Lishan pointed out that Yunlin has a large peanut planting area and only Baozhong, Sihu and Mailiao failed to pass. She felt it was unfair and the county government would try its best to fight for it from the central government. She also reminded that farmers must take photos to document any disasters, especially delayed disasters such as sweet potatoes, peanuts and garlic. The crops in the soil may not appear to be obviously damaged, but the crops in the soil may have long rotted. In addition to farmers taking photos themselves, the government office should also assist farmers to take correct photos to provide evidence.
