On the 26th, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Public Safety Department arrested Yusuke Nakaike, 42, a self-employed man from Miyamae, Suginami Ward, Tokyo, on suspicion of violating the Explosives Control Law for possessing black powder and other materials at home without a legitimate reason. He denies the charges.

According to the Ministry of Public Safety, Nakaike purchased fertilizer, the raw material for black powder, online around last summer, but the business reported him because the purpose of use was ambiguous. As a result of the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had purchased the vehicle under another person's name. It was also learned that he had posted a video on social media showing the fire spreading over several meters after setting something that looked like gunpowder on fire.

The Ministry of Public Security searched the suspect's home in January and seized black powder, homemade fireworks, and other items. The possibility that black powder was manufactured from fertilizer will also be investigated.

He was arrested in the same month on suspicion of possessing approximately 250 grams of black powder at his home without a valid reason.
