North Chungcheong Province is fostering semiconductors, secondary batteries, and bio as core strategic industries, and seeks to strengthen the local industrial base by attracting investment from companies in the metropolitan area.
On the 16th, North Chungcheong Province held an investment attraction information session at the Seoul Ambassador Pullman Hotel for about 300 CEOs of high-tech and excellent companies belonging to the Seoul Metropolitan Area Main Business Association.
At the briefing session, the province introduced the infrastructure and development vision for key regional strategic industries such as semiconductors, secondary batteries, and bio.
Chungcheongbuk-do is home to semiconductor anchor companies such as SK Hynix, DB Hitech, and Nepes, as well as secondary battery companies such as LG Energy Solution, LG Chem, and EcoPro.
The province highlighted the fact that it is a key manufacturing base in the central region with 152 industrial complexes, taking advantage of the geographical advantage of being located in the center of the country and being adjacent to the metropolitan area and the transportation network.
In the case of Osong, Cheongju, it was designated as the country's only specialized bio processing complex, and the fact that the 3rd National Industrial Complex and K-Bio Square development project is being promoted here was presented as an advantage.
The province plans to attract large-scale investment through pro-business policies such as unconventional investment incentives.
Governor Shin Shin-han said, “We will create the optimal investment conditions desired by companies and will spare no effort in providing administrative support to ensure that companies investing in North Chungcheong Province succeed.”
Following the briefing session, the province, Cheongju City, and DI Dongil signed an investment agreement to build a new secondary battery core material production facility.
Governor Shin, Cheongju Mayor Lee Jang-seop, and DI Dongil CEO Park Chan-gyu attended the signing ceremony.
DI Dongil will invest 110.7 billion won from this year to 2028 to build a carbon-coated aluminum foil factory for secondary batteries (total building area of 19,800 m2) on a 43,269.42 m2 site in the High-Tech Valley Industrial Complex in Gangnae-myeon, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju.
Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of this year and be completed in the second half of next year. The number of new hires is expected to be 151.
CEO Park said, “We will not only leap forward as a leading global secondary battery materials company, but also coexist and grow together with the local community.”
Mayor Lee Jang-seop said, “We will spare no effort in working with North Chungcheong Province to provide the necessary administrative support so that companies can proceed with their planned investments without disruption and grow together with the local community.”
