Heavy Rain and Storm Warning in Istanbul

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) issued a warning for night and morning hours.

According to the statement made by AKOM, the rains will be heavy in some places throughout the province after midnight, and the cold and rainy weather will continue locally and at intervals until the evening hours (20.00) on Wednesday.

During this period, it is predicted that there may be 40-100 kilograms/square meter of rainfall throughout the province, 60-120 kilograms/square meter in the northern districts, especially in Çatalca, Arnavutköy, Eyüpsultan, Sarıyer, Beykoz, Çekmeköy and Şile, and over 150 kilograms/square meter in some places.

In these days, when humidity levels reach particularly high levels due to the effect of the north wind, which carries humid air to the region over the Black Sea, it is estimated that storms and heavy thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms may occur due to the coldness of the upper levels of the atmosphere and the relatively warmness of the sea and land surfaces.
