Jewelry stolen from a bar in Paraná had saved the life of a businessman in an attempted murder

The gold necklace and bracelet, valued at half a million reais and stolen from a businessman in a bar in Ponta Grossa, in Campos Gerais do Paraná, saved his life years earlier, according to the Civil Police. The information was revealed by the man himself to the corporation.

The robbery took place around noon on Wednesday (23) and was filmed by a commercial establishment's security camera. See the video above.

In December 2022, the same businessman was the target of an assassination attempt in his own home. He told the police that one of the shots hit his necklace and the jewelry prevented the bullet from passing through his body.

At the time, the businessman was attacked by a uniformed military police officer who, according to investigations, was the lover of the businessman's wife and could not accept the fact that she did not want to end the marriage. The PM was sentenced to eight years in prison.

In relation to the robbery, images from the bar's security camera show that the criminal entered with a helmet and a motorcycle courier backpack and went straight to the businessman. He even threatened other people who were there, but only took the businessman's belongings.

According to police chief Derick Moura Jorge, in addition to the jewelry, the thief even took the key to the businessman's truck, but ended up throwing it away before fleeing.

Now, the Civil Police are investigating whether or not the crime was premeditated and are trying to identify the criminal.

"We are investigating the entire situation, trying to understand what happened, analyzing images from security cameras at the location and nearby and listening to witnesses to check if it was an isolated case, that is, the person who was passing by and saw an opportunity to commit the crime, or if it was something already premeditated -- if this perpetrator had already targeted this businessman and specifically these jewels", explains the delegate.

The Civil Police ask for the public's collaboration so that, if anyone has information about the thief, the crime itself or sees the jewelry being sold, they can report it to the corporation.

If the crime is happening at that time and/or there is someone in a dangerous situation, the Military Police must be called by calling 190.
