Monika Jadwiga Piątkowska was born on August 18, 1974 in Zakopane. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University. She was also a scholarship holder of the US Department of State under the International Visitor Leadership Program.
Her professional path from the beginning was related to both public administration and the economy. Kraków has a special place in it, where for almost a decade she participated in preparing the city's development strategy.
Years spent in the Krakow city hall
In the years 2003–2012, Piątkowska headed the Strategy and Development Department of the Krakow City Hall. At that time, she was responsible for work on the Krakow Development Strategy.
At the same time, from 2009 to 2012, she served as the plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Krakow for the city's brand. Her tasks included, among others: promotion of Krakow at international investment fairs and during EXPO presentations in Aichi, Zaragoza and Shanghai.
This experience became one of the foundations of her public image. Piątkowska emphasizes knowledge of municipal administration, management mechanisms and cooperation between local government and business.
Central administration and economy
After leaving the Krakow city hall, she worked in government administration. In the years 2012–2014, she headed the Department of Social Communication at the Ministry of Economy, and was also the press secretary of the Minister of Economy.
Then she joined the management board of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency. There, she was responsible for Poland's economic promotion, communication and relations with domestic and foreign media.
In the following years, she led organizations representing entrepreneurs. In the years 2015–2018, she headed the INNOVO Employers' Association, bringing together industrial and energy companies. From 2018, until taking up her senatorial mandate, she headed the Grain and Feed Chamber - an industry organization of traders, grain processors and feed producers.
Senatorial mandate from 2025
Monika Piątkowska became a senator of the 11th term in 2025. He represents district no. 33, covering part of Krakow, and belongs to the Parliamentary Club of the Civic Coalition.
In the Senate, he works in the Petitions Committee and the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. She is also a member of, among others, Krakow Parliamentary Team and the team for the construction of the Krakow metro.
Her parliamentary activity is combined with previous experience in the economic and local government sectors.
Candidate for the president of Krakow. Piątkowska's program
In 2026, Piątkowska became a candidate in the early elections for the president of Krakow. Her campaign is based on the slogan of using administrative and managerial experience gained in the city hall, central institutions and economic organizations.
Monika Piątkowska's program is based on five areas: transport, labor market, energy, investments and housing. The candidate argues that urban policy in these areas should be conducted jointly.
One of the main points of the campaign is the construction of the Krakow metro. Piątkowska emphasizes the importance of the city's cooperation with the government, which - in her opinion - is to help obtain financing for the largest investments.
The candidate also announces actions to improve road safety. Its declarations also included blocking the variant of the S7 expressway through the southern part of Krakow.
Piątkowska declares that she will conduct an audit at the Krakow City Hall. He also announces the restriction of the Clean Transport Zone.
The program also provides for the preparation of separate development plans for all 18 Krakow districts. The documents would be created taking into account the comments submitted by residents.
The program also included announcements of increasing the availability of apartments and activities aimed at strengthening Krakow's labor market and the city's investment attractiveness. The candidate relates these goals to, among others: with energy costs and infrastructure development.
