He hit a child on a crosswalk and ran away. A 25-year-old with a driving ban was arrested

The accident occurred on August 26 at ul. Szosa Jadowska in Duczki. According to the police, the driver of the Volkswagen hit a minor at a crossing and then left the scene. He had as many as four court driving bans and had been convicted many times before.

After being hit, the 25-year-old was hiding on one of the properties in the Korytnica commune in the Węgrów district. On September 15, when the officers arrived at the given address, the man started to run away. He was detained.

The man was taken to the District Prosecutor's Office in Wołomin, where he was charged with failing to comply with driving bans imposed by the courts, an act specified in Art. 244 of the Penal Code.

The issue of hitting the girl at a pedestrian crossing is the subject of separate proceedings. The prosecutor submitted a request to the court for the temporary arrest of the 25-year-old, which the court granted. Failure to comply with a court driving ban may result in a penalty ranging from 3 months to 5 years' imprisonment.
