The defendant Ümit Ö. attended the hearing at the Istanbul Anatolian 10th High Criminal Court via SEGBİS from prison. The defendant's lawyer was also present in the hall.

In his opinion on the merits, the public prosecutor stated that the defendant committed the crimes of "bringing prohibited items into the execution institution or detention center" and "manufacturing and trading drugs or stimulants" in a chain manner and requested that he be punished.

Defendant Ümit Ö., who defended against the opinion, said, "In accordance with the principle that the defendant benefits from suspicion, which is a universal principle throughout all the first year of the Faculty of Law, I demand my acquittal, and if your court is of the opposite opinion, my release by declaring that I consent to all kinds of judicial control measures, taking into account my financial damages arising from my long detention period, the loss of my family relatives, and my inability to do my job with my clients due to my profession, and my request for the implementation of the provisions in my favor."

23 YEARS 5 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT

Announcing its decision, the court board noted that the defendant had committed the crimes of "bringing prohibited items into the execution institution or detention center" and "manufacturing and trading drugs or stimulants" more than once, and ruled that he be sentenced to 23 years, 5 months and 7 days in prison.

IN THE INdictment, IT WAS STATED THAT HE STOPPED DRUGS WITH A BAGGAGE CONTAINING 100 TL.

In the indictment prepared by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the defendant lawyer gave drugs containing 100 liras to a client he met in prison. It was reported that the drugs were seized from the convict immediately after the meeting.

It was noted in the indictment that investigations were continuing regarding allegations that the defendant supplied drugs to other convicts. It was requested that the defendant be sentenced to 2 to 5 years in prison for the crime of "bringing prohibited items into the execution institution or detention center" and to 20 to 30 years in prison for the crime of "manufacturing and trading drugs or stimulants".
