Yemen and Houthi Reaction from Ümit Özdağ to Hakan Fidan

Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ made a statement to the press at his party's Provincial Directorate within the scope of his contacts in Izmir.

Reacting to Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's statements regarding the 'Saudi Arabia-Yemen' crisis, Özdağ argued that Turkey was wanted to be dragged into a war and said:

"We used to have a Minister of Foreign Affairs. Now our Minister of Foreign Affairs has declared himself the Minister of War. Hakan Fidan. A hatred for the Houthis has suddenly arisen in Hakan Fidan. In every statement he makes, he states that Turkey should take action against the Houthis and that Saudi Arabia should ensure territorial security. We watch this with astonishment. Whose enemy are the Houthis? The enemy of Israel. I did not know that Hakan Fidan loved Israel so much. Mr. Hakan Fidan, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. He has been in the Middle East for 4 thousand years." "Are you changing this principle? So, are Israel's enemies also your enemies? Tell this to the Turkish nation."

"WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO?"

Arguing that Saudi Arabia's territorial integrity is not in danger, Özdağ stated that he has no objections to arms sales and mutual intelligence cooperation with this country. Questioning Turkey's possible military intervention in Yemen, Özdağ said:

"What do you plan to do next? Will you send the land forces, 3,300 kilometers forward to Yemeni territory? Will you send the air force? What will it do that the American Air Force and the Israeli Air Force cannot do? Will you send the naval forces? American aircraft carriers have moved away from the region. The missile systems in the hands of the Houthis are extremely advanced and their military structures are hidden under the mountains. In summary, what do you want to do?"

"ISRAEL NEEDS LEADERS WHO WANT PEACE"

Stating that the impact of an attack against the Houthis on Türkiye-Iran relations should also be evaluated, Özdağ said:

"Yes, Mr. Hakan Fidan, what do you really want to do? What is the aim of your Houthi policy to put Turkey-Iran relations on an axis? We will follow them step by step and inform the Turkish public, valuable members of the press, about this dangerous game being played."

Stating that Turkey should follow a foreign policy that supports economic cooperation in the region, Özdağ said, "Turkey's Middle East policy should encourage peace and stability. It is time for the Israeli people to put the troublemaker of the Middle East and the world, called Netanyahu, to the ballot box in the elections. The Israeli people also need leaders and politicians who want peace, not Netanyahu."
