A 33-year-old cyclist killed by a car in Salornay-sur-Guye, her husband attacks the driver

A family bike ride ended with the death of a 33-year-old woman on Thursday in Salornay-sur-Guye, in Saône-et-Loire. The victim, who was using her new bike for the first time, was riding with her children aged 8 and 10 on the road in front of her home when she was hit by a car, we learned this Friday.

The motorist, also aged around thirty, was driving at “excessive speed”, indicated the public prosecutor of Mâcon, Anne-Lise Furstoss. According to the gendarmes, the impact was particularly violent: the cyclist was thrown and had her arm torn off. She died on the spot.

Two separate investigations opened

After the collision, the driver stopped near the scene. The victim's husband then attacked him and struck him several times with a box cutter he had on him. Injured, the motorist was transported by helicopter to Dijon University Hospital. His vital prognosis was not in jeopardy.
