Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, AI/Smart City Innovation Talent Development Project Contest... Selected as one of four 4-year universities nationwide

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Lim Ki-chang = The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that it will hold a contest for the 'AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Smart City Innovation Talent Development Project' targeting four-year universities across the country starting from the 29th of this month.

Since 2009, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been operating smart city specialized education through a three-stage innovative talent development project, producing 10,091 professionals and producing 825 theses and 3,195 academic presentations as of last year.

The core goal of this 4th phase project is to cultivate practical professionals with AI and smart city convergence capabilities as AI technology spreads across all urban areas.

We will select four four-year universities that can operate AI and smart city-related departments or link and converge two or more departments to open and operate AI and smart city specialized courses.

While operating a smart city education course, more than 30% of subjects that apply AI technology to each field of smart cities must be organized, and programs linked to industry and local governments, domestic and international internships, and international cooperation programs must be operated.

Selected universities are supported with scholarships, domestic and international internships, and industry-academia cooperation expenses. Universities also plan to increase project responsibility and participation by mandating 25% of the project cost.

Applications for the contest will be accepted at the Korea Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Agency from the 28th to the 29th of next month.
