A small plane with singer Rey Vaqueiro caught fire after leaving the runway during landing this Sunday (13), in Parelhas. Nobody was injured.

The aircraft was carrying 8 people, including the artist, crew and pilots. The group was taken to Parelhas Municipal Hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters fought the fire in the 2 turbines and prevented the fire from spreading to the forest. The team's previous plane landed without any problems.

The airfield runway was fit for use. Cenipa was called to investigate the causes of the accident.

A small plane with singer Rey Vaqueiro caught fire after leaving the runway during a landing in the early hours of this Sunday (13) in the city of Parelhas, in the Seridó Region of Rio Grande do Norte, where the artist was scheduled to perform.

The singer and five other people were on the aircraft, in addition to the pilot and co-pilot, totaling eight people. Nobody was injured.

The plane was destroyed. The Fire Department reported that it contacted the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) to investigate the cause of the accident.

Rey Moreno had shown up in the city of Moreno, in Pernambuco, hours before and had a performance scheduled in Parelhas for 2:30 am.

Singer, team and crew were taken to the Municipal Hospital of Parelhas for medical evaluation. They managed to leave the aircraft before the fire spread.

On social media, the mayor of Parelhas, Tiago Almeida, published a photo with the artist and also part of the health team that treated him.

"Today, faced with a situation that no one expected to experience, health professionals and an entire team mobilized to care, welcome and do everything possible in the face of such a delicate emergency," said the mayor.

Until the most recent update of this report, the singer had not commented on the accident.

According to the Fire Department, both turbines were on fire in the accident. "The teams fought the fire and cooled the turbines, while the remaining fuel was consumed," the corporation said in a statement.

The Fire Department reported that it took five hours of work to fight all the flames.

The landing took place at a mining company's aerodrome in Parelhas. Minutes before, the first aircraft with part of the singer's team had already landed without any complications.

According to the Fire Department, the runway at the site is suitable and did not present any problems for landing or take-off.

The Fire Department reported that at least nine people worked on the team to fight the flames.

In addition to putting out the fire on the aircraft, firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to the forest area.

The case will be investigated by Cenipa.
