‘Visiting Just Dream’ launched for underprivileged groups living in remote islands and those with limited mobility

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Go Yoo-seon = The 'Just Dream' project, which provides food and daily necessities to vulnerable groups without needing proof of income, will expand nationwide this month.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 6th that 55 cities, counties, and districts that are not currently participating in the Just Dream project, including Ulleung-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, will sequentially begin the project within this month.

So far, 210,000 people have received support through the Just Dream project, which started in 57 locations nationwide in December last year. Among them, about 44,700 people received welfare counseling, and about 4,400 people were connected to institutional protection systems such as basic livelihood security and emergency welfare support.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare is also implementing the ‘Visiting Just Dream’ program for the elderly, the disabled, and remote island residents with limited mobility.

The 'village/village welfare linkage type', where a health and welfare team travels to villages by vehicle to deliver goods and provide consultations, the 'local resources linkage type', where volunteers deliver goods through the local community's private network, and the 'public institution cooperation type', where post office deliverymen deliver goods to Just Dream applicants, are being promoted.

Participation from the private sector that sympathizes with the purpose of the project is also steadily increasing.

Following Shinhan Financial Group's promise to provide a total of 10 billion won in support by 2027, the Export-Import Bank of Korea, Lotte Holdings, and Korea Fruit and Vegetable Co., Ltd. also contributed, with private donations reaching a total of 13.5 billion won.

Minister of Health and Welfare Jeong Eun-kyung said, "Over the past 10 months, Just Dream has lowered the threshold for welfare by not requiring proof of hunger," and added, "We will strengthen our support system to find and promptly provide support to even one more citizen who is in the blind spot of welfare."
