Gyeongbuk Province, excellent performance in preventing lonely death, holding special exhibition of traditional crafts

Gyeongbuk-do, 'Excellent' performance in preventing lonely death = Gyeongbuk-do announced on the 28th that it received an 'excellent' rating for two consecutive years in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's '2025 lonely death prevention implementation plan implementation performance evaluation'.

The number of lonely deaths in Gyeongbuk in 2025 was 162, a 12.9% decrease from the previous year. During the same period, the national average increased by 7.2%.

The province believes that field-based prevention policies that emphasize human safety nets and smart care are effective.

Gyeongbuk ranks high in the country with a single-person household ratio of 38.9% and a senior citizen single-person household ratio of 14.3%.

In response to the risk of isolation among the elderly, the province is expanding its care network tailored to regional characteristics, such as customized care services for the elderly, delivery of healthy beverages to low-income seniors living alone, weekly welfare check services, and emergency safety and security services for seniors living alone and the disabled.

Kim Ho-seop, director of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Welfare and Health Bureau, said, “We will look after and support our marginalized and isolated neighbors with detailed care tailored to local conditions such as cities and counties.”

In the special exhibition, the works of 12 craft artists active in Gyeongbuk were displayed and Hanbok and tea ceremony experiences were also provided.
