Busan's Bukhang Waterside Park is crowded even on the last day of the holiday with people wanting to see the shark 'Bukangi'

“Whoa, whoa, it’s coming! It’s coming!”

From early morning on the 27th, the last day of the Chuseok holiday, Bukhang Waterfront Park in Dong-gu, Busan was crowded with people wanting to see the shark 'Bukangi'.

Visitors lined up for hundreds of meters along the railing inside the waterway of the waterfront park, waiting for Bukangi to swim.

Visitors were seated on both sides of the pedestrian bridge railing across the waterway, holding their cell phones and looking down.

After a while, they heard a voice saying "Wow, it's coming!" from somewhere, so they each held their phones with both hands and waited for Bukangi to pass by.

Bukangi swam along the canal wall, moving its tail fin leisurely, as if enjoying people's attention.

The cheers and cell phone shots of people following Bukangi's swimming looked like cheering for surfers at a baseball stadium.

Occasionally, when several fish jumped out of the water at the waterfront park, visitors even said, “(Bukangi) must not be hungry.”

The family of Jeong Ho-jeong (43), who was returning to Daejeon after visiting his in-laws in Ulsan and his parents' house in Busan during the holidays, said, "It is a historic moment to be able to see sharks in person," and added, "I heard that Bukangi will be sent out to sea after the Chuseok holiday, so I couldn't help but stop by."

He smiled and said, “It is said that seeing a shark brings good luck, and I hope that our family will be blessed with good luck in the future.”

On this day, the large parking lot near Waterfront Park was already close to full from early morning.

On the Busan Port Sky Plaza pedestrian path that leads from the Busan Station waiting room to the waterside park, the crowd of people going to see Bukangi made it difficult to cross the people in front.

Bukangi appeared at Bukhang Waterfront Park on the 18th and has been staying there for 10 days.

Busan City calculated that 405,800 people visited from the 19th, when it started counting visitors, to 6 PM on the 26th.

On the 26th, a woman in her 50s near the pedestrian bridge complained of dizziness, and 119 was dispatched.

On the afternoon of the 27th, the city is holding a meeting with related organizations to discuss Bukang's movement situation and rescue plans.
