Turkish Language Day message from President Erdoğan

President Erdoğan's message is as follows: “Our Turkish language is not only a means of understanding for our nation, but also the carrier of our history, culture, civilizational accumulation and common memory.

Our mother tongue, Turkish, contains a great accumulation of civilization that has come from our deep-rooted history dating back thousands of years. Our Turkish language, which has been enriched by contacting different nations in different geographies for centuries, has translated into our nation's world of emotions and thoughts in every aspect of our lives, from poetry to literature, from science to art.

Our duty on the occasion of September 26, Turkish Language Day, is to protect our Turkish language as a legacy of the great heritage we received from the past, to enrich it and to pass it on to future generations in the strongest way.

As we build the Turkish Century, it is of great importance to protect our own language, culture and civilizational values, and to contribute to the global world with our own words, our own concepts and our own civilizational perspective.

It is our common responsibility to popularize the correct, beautiful and careful use of our Turkish and to strengthen the love of our children and young people for our language. Let us not forget that the nation that protects its language also protects its history and future.

With these thoughts, I hope that the Turkish Language Day will lead to the enrichment of our Turkish language and its stronger presence in the world, and I remember with mercy and gratitude all our language and cultural elders who contributed to the development and survival of our Turkish language.
