Heavy rains will continue in Istanbul and throughout the country until the weekend

The heavy rain, which affects most of the country, especially Istanbul, will continue its effect until the end of the week. Heavy rain will continue to be effective in the Marmara and Black Sea today.

In the statement made by the Governorship of Istanbul, it was noted that the rains in Şile, Pendik and Tuzla districts will have a strong impact. The rain, which is expected to take a break in the afternoon, is expected to be effective intermittently for the next three days.

Meteorological Engineer Prof. Dr. Adil Tek noted that the cool weather affecting the country will last for two weeks. Tek said for the next week, "After the cool air leaving the country over the Black Sea, we will again see the rains coming over the Central Mediterranean." made his assessment.

Pointing out that temperatures are below seasonal norms, Adil Tek said that temperatures will increase in the second half of October, especially in the western regions.

IS THERE ANY SNOW EXPECTED?

Pointing out that the current temperatures are not at a level that can turn precipitation into snowfall, Adil Tek said, "However, there may be a possibility of snowfall in places where the altitude is above 2500 - 3000 meters and the temperatures drop. There may be a possibility of snow in the high parts of the Eastern Black Sea Region and in the high parts of Eastern Anatolia." he said.

Stating that there is no expectation of snowfall at the moment, Adil Tek continued as follows:

"- The occupancy rates in Istanbul dams are currently at the level of 36 percent, and have dropped considerably. With these rains, these levels will not suddenly rise to 40 or 50 percent, but will gradually increase by one point. We will especially see the increase in dam occupancy in the rains in October and the rains in November."

Bacon summer occurs when a low cold air mass coming from the polar regions becomes motionless and forms a hot center of high pressure.

During this period, just before winter sets in, warm days are experienced as if summer has returned. There is no clear history of hot pastrami. It usually occurs in Istanbul in early November.
