The Kenyan is the fastest

The first to cross the finish line of the Warsaw Marathon was Stephen Kibor from Kenya, who achieved a time of 2:09.19, improving his personal record.

Behind him were Ugandans Victor Kwemboi (2:12.20) and Ezekiel Mitai (2:12.36). The best Pole was Dariusz Boratyński, who took ninth place with a result of 2:19.20.

Historic Vindics-Toth run

Lili Anna Vindics-Toth turned out to be a real sensation among women. The silver medalist of this year's European Championships in Birmingham ran the route in 2:24.48, breaking not only the Hungarian record, but also setting a new Warsaw Marathon record.

Ethiopian Gelane Senbete (2:24.57) took second place, and Kenyan Vivian Jerotich Kosgei (2:28.24) was third.

It's always a great thing and a great honor for any event when a national record is broken. Vindics-Toth improved by a few minutes and shaved almost a minute off the Hungarian record, said Marek Tronina, president of the Warsaw Marathon Foundation.

A route with the atmosphere of the capital

This year's marathon started at the Palace of Culture and Science. The runners traversed the most famous streets of Warsaw, passing, among others: National Stadium, Skaryszewski Park, ZOO, as well as characteristic points of Żoliborz, Wola, Bemowo and Bielany.

The last kilometers led through the city center, past the Royal Castle and the University of Warsaw, to the finish line at the Palace of Culture.

In the accompanying 10 km race, the Ukrainian Aleksii Pysarew (29.15) triumphed, ahead of Mateusz Kaczor (29.36) and Adam Czerwiński (30.59).

Among women, the best was Emilia Mazek (34.20), ahead of Sabina Jarząbek (34.47) and the Italian Sakina El Adel (35.06).
