President Lee Jae-myung emphasizes delivery of KF-21 and reaffirms commitment to independent national defense

President Lee Jae-myung said on the 29th, “We must speed up the advancement of missile technology, such as the construction of nuclear submarines and hypersonic missiles, which are key keys to independent national defense.”

President Lee said this in his opening remarks at the Cabinet meeting held at the Blue House on this day, saying, “A strong national defense capability is a key pillar that protects national interests.”

In particular, President Lee emphasized, "We must continue to develop and deploy state-of-the-art weapon systems to thoroughly defend the sky, land, sea, and space with our own technology," and added, "We must continue to make efforts to create real peace that does not require fighting beyond winning by fighting."

President Lee also said, “The KF-21, the first fighter jet made by our own hands, was officially delivered to the Air Force last week,” and added, “There are only eight countries around the world, including us, that have succeeded in independently developing the 4.5-generation fighter jet, which is a collection of Korea’s cutting-edge technologies.”

He further added, “It has special significance in terms of independent national defense.”
