President Lee Jae-myung declares promotion of three core social policies: housing, jobs, and microfinance

President Lee Jae-myung said on the 29th, "We will promote three core social policies on housing, jobs, and microfinance, which are the areas that have the greatest impact on people's lives."

At a cabinet meeting presided over at the Blue House on this day, President Lee said, "Despite various external difficulties, our economy is showing a strong trend of growth, and we must further accelerate the stabilization of people's livelihoods so that the warmth of growth can spread to every corner of the lives of all citizens."

He continued, "In particular, we must actively utilize available financial resources and policy tools, including excess tax revenue, to alleviate polarization and inequality, which are key factors in the instability of people's livelihoods," and added, "We will focus available resources on supplying 1.19 million housing units, national job creation projects, and expansion of inclusive finance."

In addition, he said, “Excess tax revenue, which is the fruit of growth and recovery achieved through the efforts of all citizens, must be actively used as a catalyst for substantive improvement in the lives of the people and alleviation of polarization,” and asked, “All ministries to do their best to quickly promote the three core social policies.”

President Lee also said, “Reforms to improve faulty systems, systems, and practices must continue without interruption.”

However, he said, "Reform is said to be more difficult than revolution because it involves changing all the systems, practices, and cultures designed to benefit a few powerful people. However, if you ignore the disease because it is difficult to cure, something bigger will happen. Reform can never be stopped just because there is a lot of resistance and backlash."

At the same time, he emphasized, "Because reform entails suffering, we must carry out 'life reform' in a practical and efficient manner, consoling the pain of those who have to give up their vested rights, carefully and as quietly as possible," and "Only with the collective intelligence of the people can the direction of reform become clearer and its power can last that much longer."

It is interpreted that it is important to clarify to some supporters who are skeptical about the current government's 'will to reform' that there is no change in the intention for reform, and at the same time, to proceed with reforms that can persuade the entire public.

President Lee said, “Reform that changes the lives of the people and brightens the future of the country is our government’s identity and reason for existence,” and promised, “No matter how difficult and difficult it is, we will definitely fulfill our mission of irreversible reform of society as a whole.”

He also emphasized again, “I will be evaluated by the people not through words, but through actions, and I will be held accountable for the results.”
